Teacher Awards, Grants and Scholarships

The Encyclopaedia Britannica Awards


Through the generosity of Britannica Learning Materials the Canadian College of Teachers makes available awards for classroom teachers who, through their teaching and/or related activities, are considered to have made an outstanding contribution to education. Each year an area is identified for the award, such as “ in the area of partnerships in learning.”

Nature: Awards are in the form of a plaque and a sum of money.

Teachers must have made a contribution to the development of the identified area.

Selection Process:

Teachers can be nominated by individuals and by officials and administrators of schools, school boards, universities, departments of education and other educational institutions. The nominating individual should include a curriculum vitae of the nominee along with a rationale and appropriate documentation in support of the candidate. Letters of support from other professionals should also be included.

An Awards Committee will make the final selections.

The awards will be announced and/or presented at the annual general meeting of the Canadian College of Teachers.

Deadline Date:

All nominations with accompanying documentation should be forwarded by April 30. Material submitted in support of awards becomes the property of CCT, with the right to publish.
