Four, 3-year terms, from July 1, 2025, to August 31, 2028

The mandate of the committee is to advise the Executive Committee on education policy, curriculum development, and assessment and accountability issues. The committee also advises on BCTF professional development programs, liaises with Provincial Specialist Associations (PSAs) and local PD Chairs, monitors and advises on issues relating to teachers’ professional autonomy, teacher education, and related certification issues. Any other issues relating to professional concerns will also be within the mandate of this committee.

The committee consists of 12 members, 9 selected from the membership at large and 3 selected from representatives of the PSA Council. The four vacancies are at-large positions. Members holding at-large positions will be assigned responsibility for working with locals through the Federation’s zone structure.

Committee members are expected to attend three advisory committee meetings during the year; each meeting is three days, usually scheduled for Thursday to Saturday. Committee members will also attend and help facilitate up to two zone meetings on a Friday/Saturday and the BCTF Summer Leadership Conference for three days in August. Committee members may also be called upon to attend other Federation meetings as needed.
