BCTF Assistance Society
Six vacancies for directors
—one-year terms

Half of the 12 directors of the BCTF Assistance Society are appointed by the BCTF. The directors meet once a month during the school year, attend an annual general meeting in March or April, and any special general meetings of the Society. Applicants may be from anywhere in BC and will have the option to attend meetings either in-person or via Zoom. However, the BCTF Assistance Society is unable to cover expenses for members outside of the Lower Mainland.

The purposes of the Society are:

  1. to render aid in the form of loans or grants or subsidies to persons who are or once were active members of the BC Teachers’ Federation and their dependents, and persons who are in receipt of a pension from the British Columbia Teachers’ Pension Plan and their dependents.
  2. to invite and receive contributions from any persons or groups who wish to support the purposes of the Society.
  3. to maintain and administer funds for the benefit of persons who are or once were members of the BC Teachers’ Federation and their dependents, and persons who are in receipt of a pension from the British Columbia Teachers’ Pension Plan and their dependents, in the event of illness, accident, medical need or financial distress.
