The BCTF Federation Leadership Institute (FLI) will take place this year from November 21–23, 2024. This three-day event is a training opportunity for local officers. The schedule includes a mixture of short courses (90-minutes) and longer courses (half-day and whole-day sessions) that will focus on the work of local union leadership in supporting members and upholding the collective agreement. Topics include protecting member rights effectively, benefits, legal issues, communication skills, health and wellness, social justice, mentorship, educational policy, and assisting members with workplace challenges.

The BCTF invites the following members who would not otherwise attend FLI to apply to attend the institute at BCTF expense:

  • up to an additional ten members who identify as Black, Indigenous, and people of colour.
  • Additional ten Black, Indigenous, and people of colour members are only required to attend on November 22–23, 2024.

Please be aware that if you are currently on leave from your district, participation is not permitted to ensure that your leave status is not affected. We encourage you to explore future opportunities once your leave has concluded.
