Students should have some cursory knowledge of World War II prior to doing this activity. The students begin by reading the “Dieppe Raid” essay created by Veterans Canada. The students then watch the video (link provided in the instructions) where veterans of the raid speak about their experiences. The students then complete the questions. You may choose to split this activity in half. You may also choose to covert and combine all files into a single PDF. I am providing a single-point rubric, but this can be easily modified to meet your needs. Please feel free to modify the activity as you see fit. The lesson is meant to evoke students to empathize with the soldiers, and to consider the cost of battles, as well as their significance.
