Last month, the Ministry of Education and Child Care published its K–12 Student Reporting Policy Framework along with interim supporting materials for educators and administrators, and an informational brochure for families.
A finalized Reporting Order will be released in Spring 2023 and implemented in the 2023–24 school year.
The K–12 Student Reporting Policy Framework establishes the key components that we can expect to see in the final policy.
Over the summer, a newly appointed committee comprised of teachers and administrators will work with the Ministry to co-construct supporting documents and resources for policy implementation. We are pleased to have strong representation in this committee, with eight BCTF members working to ensure the rights, interests, and workload of our members are considered and reflected in the work.
The committee is expected to continue its work into the fall.
The current Student Progress Report Order remains in effect for the 2022–23 school year and is the document that school districts are required to follow until the new Reporting Order is finalized and legislated for the September 2023 implementation.
Members are encouraged to keep an eye on the Ministry of Education and Child Care website for any updates and to contact their local office with any questions or concerns.
