About This Resource

Lesson activities to accompany the vignette "Margaret Rutledge” from the acclaimed Knowledge Network series; Working People: A History of Labour in British Columbia produced by Landrock Entertainment. The vignette examines the early career of Margaret Rutledge, a pioneer in Canadian aviation and advocate for women’s rights for those working in the formative years of the industry. The vignette can be helpful in examining the non-combat role of women in the war years of 1939-1945. This is a unit created by the Labour History Project, a group of retired and current British Columbia teachers collaborating to develop a series of lesson plans, activities, and workshops focused on labour studies and labour history.
