BCTF Health and
Safety Program
Health and safety are top priorities as schools
reopen
With increased in-class
instruction in our public education system now in place, many teachers have questions and concerns about their
own health and safety, and that of their students. Your Federation has been
working around the clock advocating with government for districts to implement
stringent health and safety protocols, and for teachers’ rights to safe and
healthy workplaces to be respected. Below you will find information from fellow
teachers who are health and safety experts, and the plans and protocols from
relevant government bodies.
The BCTF Health
and Safety Program supports members through training, workshops, wellness
advocacy, and assistance with WCB appeals. Members can serve as the health and
safety representative in their locals. In addition, they can apply to serve on
the BCTF Health and Safety Advisory Committee (HSAC) which advises the BCTF
Executive Committee on health and safety issues in schools.
