An Anonymous Poem

We have already walked the line and given 3 days pay

We braved the cold, the sleet, the rain - trying to keep the

blues at bay

We stood beside our comrades in the face of great dismay

But the union makes us strong.

We returned to work with grace and poise, prepared to carry

on

And do the job we love to do - our smiles we tried to don

But they were quickly wiped right off as hot coals were heaped

upon

But the union makes us strong.

It is we who teach the children, coach the games and lead the

songs

It is we who inform parents where things are weak or where

they're strong

But they said it is not good enough, we're right and you are

wrong

But the union makes us strong.

"Children First" it clearly states, upon his fine lapel

He walks the halls and puffs his chest and acts like all is well

Who is REALLY coming first is getting easier to tell

But the union makes us strong.

So write some more report cards when parents are already in

the know?

What a waste of time that seems when it is just for show.

Let's stand our ground and brave the letter which into our file

will go

For the union makes us strong.
