AGM chairpersons
In accordance with Procedure 2.A.08, the Executive Committee is seeking active members interested in serving in the role of chairpersons of the Annual General Meeting (AGM). In making the selection, the Executive Committee will consider the need for inclusion of members from equity-deserving groups.
Role
The role of chairpersons of the Annual General Meeting is to chair the meeting, in alignment and accordance with the Standing Rules of Order of the AGM. Please see Part 5 of the Members' Guide, pp. 177–181, for the many items the chairpersons are responsible for within the meeting.
Generally, the meeting is co-chaired, and chairpersons will rotate throughout the business of the meeting to ensure that chairpersons have adequate rest and breaks given the focus required in this role. When not directly chairing the meeting, the other chairpersons provide support to meeting delegates by answering questions, providing procedural advice, and assisting delegates in navigating the business of the meeting.
To support unbiased decision making while in the chair, those in the chairperson role must not be voting members of the AGM or hold any other elected or appointed responsibilities at the meeting and must avoid engaging in the debate on business before the AGM.
For more details, see Procedure 2.A.08 in the Members' Guide and review the Standing Rules of Order of the AGM (pp. 177–181).
