The Roger Hammill Memorial Awards are presented annually to two outstanding environmental educators (1 formal and 1 informal) and two EE projects. |
Criteria: |
Nominations for Roger Hammill Environmental Educator Awards will be received in two categories. Listed below are the criteria under which awards will be evaluated. Nominations should address the following criteria:
Category 1: EDUCATOR - FORMAL or Non-FORMAL:
Description of EE Work and Specific Educational Need Served Award applications should include a description of the work, activity, project, or program being nominated, including:
- specific educational and environmental needs served,
- goals and objectives met,
- the benefiting audience,
- the scope of the initiative (i.e. global, national, provincial, regional, and/or community level),
- major contributions made, or awards received
* Encourages Stewardship and/or Mentorship The successful nominee has:
- increased student (and public) awareness of an environmental issue, or,
- acted as a catalyst for positive change/action, or,
- acted as a role model that has provided and inspired leadership in others
* Years of service Nominations referring to the length of service will be given consideration.
* Objectives/ Deliverables If project-oriented, did the candidate meet their objectives in terms of organizational goals, the intended breadth of the program or project and expected results such as its intended outcomes and impacts.
Category 2: EE PROJECT:
* Description of EE Work and Specific Educational Need Served Award applications should include a description of the individual or organization's work, activity, project, or program being nominated, including:
- specific educational and environmental needs served, · goals and objectives,
- the benefiting audience,
- the scope of the initiative (i.e. global, national, provincial, regional, and/or community level),
- major contributions made,
- the evaluation process used to assess impact,
- the project's long-term sustainability and legacy.
* Encourages Stewardship and/or Mentorship The submission must demonstrate that the project or group has increased public awareness of an environmental issue, acted as a catalyst for positive change /action or, offered a role model that has inspired and provided leadership to others.
* Objectives/ Deliverables Did the project meet its objectives in terms of organizational goals, the intended breadth of the program or project and expected results such as its intended outcomes and impacts.
* Names of Partners / Affiliations and their Contributions. Submissions should list all "in-kind", volunteer, and cash contributions to the group/project by other agencies.
* Replicability Published and reproducible projects may have an advantage of being able to inspire and guide others to undertake similar efforts in their own areas. Nevertheless, it is understood that not all outstanding efforts in environmental education are reproducible. Hence, the awards judges will take care to ensure that submissions are based primarily on merit. |
Selection Process: |
A candidate needs to be nominated by a colleague. The nomination should include: a) completed nomination form; b) specific information related to the criteria statements including dates, where possible; c) other supporting evidence
An Awards Selection Committee will make the final selections two weeks before the annual conference. The awards will be presented at EEPSA's annual conference. |

All nominations, including the nomination form and all supporting material must be submitted by September 30 |
