Issues in the Secondary Classroom: Challenges and Possibilities
(90 minutes to 5 hours)
workshop addresses issues in assessment, evaluation, and grading practices in
secondary schools. Issues discussed will include the balance of formative and
summative assessment, the use of zero as a mark, marks deductions for late work
and other work habit issues, grading group work, averaging marks across the
semester/year, re-dos, and retakes. This workshop supports the directions of the
revised curriculum and can incorporate core competency based reflections. (This workshop complements the Assessment
for Learning workshop and can be booked in conjunction or separately. If both
workshops are being considered it is advised
