UBC Faculty of Education

UBC offers three programmes in teacher-librarianship

1. Certificate in Teacher Librarianship

    15 credits (5 credit courses) for courses which teach the basics of teacher-librarianship

    For qualified teachers with a degree from a recognized university

    Has both on-line and independent study courses

2. Diploma in Teacher Librarianship

    For certified teachers with at least 2 years’ classroom teaching

    30 credits of senior course work

    5 year limit to complete

    May apply to transfer courses from some other Western Canadian universities

3. Master’s Degree in Teacher-Librarianship (LIBE)

    For certified teachers with at least 2 years’ classroom teaching

    Requires 30 credit hours of courses (for candidates with teacher-librarian experience) or 33 credit hours of courses (for candidates without teacher-librarian experience

    The Department is not taking applications for the Masters in Teacher Librarianship program for 2007-2008

    12.1 Diploma in Teacher-Librarianship


    The Diploma in Teacher-Librarianship is a 15 unit programme which must be completed at UVic.  Many of the courses are available during summer sessions, and some are offered during the winter both on and off campus.

Division of Continuing Studies in Education

     

The Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership and Training is open to students from business, government, education, etc.

University of Calgary Faculty of Education

While the University of Calgary does not offer programmes in the field of teacher-librarianship, it does have Masters of Education in a variety of K - 12 and Adult Ed specialties, some of which have application to school libraries.
